A departure towards new musical ground

Coast marks the beginning of The Modular Beat and represents a conscious departure from conventional rock music. Although Dennis Klein and Michael Keuth were still active members of Die Engineers, many of the musical ideas that would eventually define this new project no longer fit within the framework of their band.

The album captures a period of artistic transition and experimentation. Instrumental pieces dominate the record, while electronic textures, improvised structures and jazz-inspired elements gradually replace traditional song formats. Rather than following familiar rock conventions, Coast explores atmosphere, movement and sonic landscapes, laying the foundation for the band's future direction.
