Open Waters

In search of an individual style

Open Waters is the first official release by Lost Frequency Array. It emerged after a period spent searching for an individual musical style. The album is still strongly shaped by classic rock structures, but already shows its own approach to melodic, pop-oriented songs. Melancholic accents predominate, while many of the tracks have a driving character. It documents an artist whose style is still taking shape.

The lyrics are more direct, narrative and firmly rooted in classic songwriting than on the project’s later releases. They revolve around identity, hope, alienation and the search for orientation, connecting natural imagery with inner emotional states.

Images of sky, moonlight, rain, water and drifting movement suggest both departure and vulnerability. The world can appear open and promising, but also unfamiliar and unstable. This tension gives the album a cautious sense of optimism without dissolving its underlying melancholy.

Open Waters already establishes themes that would continue throughout the work of Lost Frequency Array: the desire to find a place in a confusing world, nature as a reflection of emotion and an openness that leaves room for personal interpretation. Compared with later albums, however, the language remains more accessible and closely aligned with conventional song forms.
